GALAXY S23 ULTRA: PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is now available for pre-order, with a February 17 release date. The entry-level model costs $1,199 / £1,249. You can pre-order the Galaxy S23 models, including the Ultra, from Samsung.com, with a few perks to consider.

The most appealing of these is the free storage upgrade, in which Samsung will provide you with the next level of storage at no cost. (For example, pre-order the 256GB and receive the 512GB.) You will also receive a $100 credit to Samsung.com.

In terms of availability, the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be available from a variety of carriers and retailers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

Samsung is one of the best places to pre-order the Galaxy S23. If you reserve your Galaxy S23 preorder through Samsung, you will receive up to a $100 Samsung credit. When you reserve one device, you’ll receive a $50 credit, and if you reserve two devices, you’ll receive a $100 credit. (It’s likely Samsung will also announce a new Galaxy Book). This is a no-risk pre-order. To reserve, all you need to do is enter your name and e-mail address. You will receive your credit once you have pre-ordered.

All of Prime, half the price.

Qualifying government assistance recipients can access all of Prime for $6.99/month (reg. /month).

GALAXY S23 ULTRA: DESIGN

The Galaxy S23 Ultra has a similar design to its predecessor, but with a flatter display. The blocky design hasn’t changed much, but the camera module is slightly larger than it was last year. This is due in part to the new 200MP main sensor.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is not a small device, measuring 0.35 inches thick and weighing 8.25 ounces. The thickness is explained in part by the fact that the S Pen is still housed within the phone, making it far more convenient than an external accessory that requires a case to store the stylus.

Phantom Black, Cream, Green, and Lavender are the available colours for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The following colours will be available only on Samsung.com: lime, graphite, sky blue, and red.

GALAXY S23 ULTRA: DISPLAY

The display on the S23 Ultra remains a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 3088 x 1440. That equates to 500 pixels per inch. The refresh rate can range from 1Hz to 120Hz for super smooth scrolling and gameplay, while the lower range aids in battery life preservation with static content. Much of this remains unchanged from the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra, according to Samsung, can reach 1,750 nits of brightness, which is extremely bright. There’s also an improved comfort feature that lets you adjust colour tones and contrast to reduce eye strain; the Vision booster feature now adjusts at three lighting levels, up from two.

GALAXY S23 ULTRA: CAMERAS

The biggest improvements to the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s cameras are the new 200MP main sensor, which could be a game changer for the best camera phones. The main camera can record video at up to 8K 30 frames per second. Depending on your needs and circumstances, you can take photos in 200MP, 50MP, or 12.5MP resolution.

Three additional cameras join that massive sensor on the phone’s back, though they don’t appear to have changed since last year.

Landscapes or large groups can be captured with the 12MP ultrawide. The twin 10MP telephoto cameras can produce images with 100x Space Zoom, Samsung’s super zoom technology. The Galaxy S23 Ultra also has optical zoom capabilities of 3x and 10x.

A 12MP selfie camera is located on the front, which may appear to be a step down from the 40MP front camera found on the Galaxy S22 Ultra. However, Samsung claims that the front camera now has faster autofocus and Super HDR, so you should see better-looking selfies overall. With that front-facing camera, you can even record 4K 60 fps video (up from 30 fps on the S22 Ultra).

GALAXY S23 ULTRA: PERFORMANCE

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, a slightly boosted version of the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, powers the Galaxy S23 Ultra and its siblings. It has a faster core clock of 3.36GHz as opposed to 3.2GHz.

Otherwise, it’s the same chip that will be found in other top Android phones released in 2023. The Adreno 740 GPU is Qualcomm’s most powerful to date, and Samsung claims that the S23 Ultra has the “fastest mobile graphics in the world.” When combined with Samsung’s new cooling system, we may have a contender for the best gaming phone.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra supports sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G technologies. Wi-Fi 6E is also supported.
