A gigantic asteroid the size of a large airliner is currently barreling towards Earth. According to NASA statistics, the asteroid 2023 OF1 is travelling at a fast 38643 kmph and is scheduled to get near to Earth today, August 2.
New asteroid 2023 OF1 was discovered by NASA’s Asteroid Watch dashboard, and it is predicted to come dangerously near to Earth.
According to NASA statistics, the asteroid is an enormous 120 feet in size, the same size as an airliner, and it will come within 4.2 million miles of Earth. The terrifying thing is that it is moving at a breakneck 38643 kmph.
Although there is a little probability that Asteroid 2023 OF1 may collide with Earth and it does not fall into the category of potentially dangerous asteroids, NASA is closely monitoring it to make sure it follows its track.
Because to a variety of factors, including the planet’s gravitational pull, asteroids occasionally veer off course from their intended routes. Asteroids can be launched from the main belt into space by these gravitational perturbations, passing other planets’ orbits en route.
