Everyone is anticipating the new year and wondering what it will bring as the year comes to a close. People have already begun making predictions for what might or might not occur in the upcoming year, with some of them competing to make the most absurd predictions possible.
But when it comes to predictions and prophecies in general, Nostradamus, a 500-year-old Frenchman, has consistently led us to wonder whether the world will end in the upcoming year.
Michel Nostradame, also known as Michel de Nostradamus, was a French astrologer in the 16th century and is still one of the most well-known oracles in the Western Hemisphere today.
Nostradamus’ most famous work, “Les Prophéties,” a collection of 942 poetic quatrains from which his future predictions have come, was left as a legacy not long before he passed away. Even though they were released in 1555, more than ten years before his passing, they are still relevant and are continually examined in an effort to predict what the future of the planet will hold.

Nostradamus has been credited with directly or obliquely predicting the Great Fire of London, Hitler’s rise to power, the Apollo XI moon landing, the September 11, 2001 attacks, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of his dozens of enigmatic prophecies, according to legend, predict the precise manner in which our planet will end. The following predictions were made by Nostradamus for 2023.
World War 3
Nostradamus predicts that “Seven months great war, people dead through evil,” will engulf the entire world in 2023. This may be true of the devastating conflict in Ukraine, which has so far resulted in war crimes and a high number of civilian fatalities. The prophecy predicts that in the coming year, the conflict will intensify into a full-fledged world war, which, given the nuclear arsenals at stake, could result in apocalyptic levels of destruction.
Failed Mars mission
The “celestial fire when the lights of Mars will go out,” according to Nostradamus, will occur. This sounds very serious. Does this mean that attempts to colonise Mars or even Mars itself are in danger? Elon Musk should take note because, according to the founder of SpaceX, people could be setting foot on Mars by 2029.
Global warming and dead fish
According to Nostradamus, “Like the sun the head shall sear the shining sea: The living fish of the Black Sea shall almost boil.” Numerous species of the most frequently consumed fish may go extinct as a direct result of global warming, according to research.
