On Monday, India’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup was announced, with all familiar faces making the cut. The other two top order batters in the squad are Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav, with middle order batter Deepak Hooda also named. Hardik Pandya is the squad’s star all-rounder, with Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant chosen as wicket-keeper batter options.
Along with Axar, the spin bowling options are Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh complete the pace bowling attack.
The selectors also named four reserve players: veteran paceman Mohammed Shami, all-rounder Deepak Chahar, spinner Ravi Bishnoi, and top order batter Shreyas Iyer. The squad for the upcoming T20I series against Australia and South Africa has also been announced by the selectors.
