Users of iphones have been warned by Apple about the possible risks of sleeping close to a charging phone. In a service statement, the company highlights the need of safe phone charging and the risks of falling asleep next to a plugged-in device.

Numerous risks exist, including the potential for fire, electric shock, injury, phone damage, and property loss. To avoid these concerns, Apple implores customers to make sure their phones are charging while attached to a cable in a space with enough ventilation.

Furthermore, because charging a phone while it is cradled in a blanket or pillow increases the likelihood that it may overheat. The major lesson to be learned from Apple is straightforward: “Do not sleep on a device, power adapter, or wireless charger, and avoid placing them under a blanket, pillow, or your body while connected to a power source.” iPhones, power adapters, and wireless chargers should only be used or charged in well-ventilated locations.

Apple underlines the potential danger of using chargers made by other companies, especially less priced ones that do not meet the same safety standards as Apple’s chargers. To ease any concerns about this, Apple advises buyers to select “Made for iPhone” cables that adhere to international safety standards.

The company cautions that while third-party cables and power adapters that comply with USB 2.0 or later standards and satisfy applicable safety regulations can be used to charge an iPhone, certain adapters may not be able to do so, posing risks of harm or even death.  It also underlines the importance of discarding damaged chargers right away and the relevance of avoiding charging mobile devices near liquids or water.

Apple advises placing safety first by meticulously following their suggestions. By heeding these recommendations, users may safeguard themselves, their phones, and their surroundings from possible threats.
