The drawing tool in WhatsApp may soon be accompanied by a new text editor. A new update for WhatsApp has reportedly begun to roll out via the Google Play Beta Program, according to a report by WABetaInfo.
The update brings the app’s version up to 2.23.3.4 and indicates that the Facebook-owned messaging service is developing a new text editor.
The report states that WhatsApp intends to add three new features to enhance the drawing editor. With the first feature, users can quickly switch between different fonts by tapping one of the font choices that are visible above the keyboard. The function will operate exactly as it does on Snapchat.
All of Prime, half the price.
Qualifying government assistance recipients can access all of Prime for $6.99/month (reg. /month).
The versatility of text alignment is the second feature. With the aid of this feature, users will be able to align the text to the left, centre, or right, giving them more control over how it is formatted in images, videos, and GIFs.
Additionally, users will be able to alter the text background with the third feature, which will make it simpler to distinguish between important text.
According to the report, work is currently being done on the new text editor, which should be available in a future application update.
It was revealed last week that the messaging service was developing a new function that would enable users to send photos in their original quality.
