Here’s how WhatsApp’s feature for message searching by date works

by OnverZe

For its users on iOS and Android, WhatsApp is rolling out new updates. The most recent 23.1.75 update to the meta-owned platform adds new features that improve the user interface and make messaging easier. The new update has a tonne of new features, including the ability to message oneself, search by date, drag and drop image sharing, and many more.

Two features in particular are highlighted in the new update: drag and drop sharing of documents, images, and videos from other apps, and search by date. Users will now be able to search for a particular message by jumping to a specific date by calendar, per Whatsapp’s description of the new version.

All of Prime, half the price.

Qualifying government assistance recipients can access all of Prime for $6.99/month (reg. /month).

“The ability to “search by date” within chat search is now supported. Toggle to the date picker by tapping “Search” from the contact or group information and choosing the “calendar” icon, “reads the new version update’s description on WhatsApp.

An instruction manual for using these new features is provided below.

How to use WhatsApp's search by date feature

·        Launch WhatsApp, then select the chat window where you want to search for a message from a particular date.

·        Click the search message now. The search bar’s right-hand corner has a calendar icon.

·        To scroll back and search the message, tap the calendar icon and select the year and month you want.

·        WhatsApp will return you to the specific messages from the chosen date when you tap “Jump to date.”

Additionally, WhatsApp now enables users to drag and drop any media from other apps straight into the chat window. The description continues, “You can now use drag and drop to share images, videos, and documents from other apps (e.g., Safari, Photos, Files) to WhatsApp chats.

Both features are currently present in fresh updates or will be very soon in fresh updates.

In the interim, WhatsApp is also preparing to soon enable users to share photos in their original quality. WaBetaInfo claims that WhatsApp will introduce a photo quality option that will let users choose the size of the image they want to send.

Along with drawing and other tools, the new icon for photo quality will be visible at the top of the screen. Currently, WhatsApp reduces the quality of images or other media, but users won’t have to do so soon thanks to a new update.
